Position: K-12 Translation Specialist (Spanish), Full Time Term of Project (6 months)

Summary: The K-12 Translation Specialist (Spanish) contributes to the translation of educational content for our K-12 and higher education clients. The Specialist will support the Director of World Languages in the translation of educational content, print or digital, and all quality assurance activities that guarantee an accurate and authentic translation. The person in this role will be proficient in the use machine translation / AI-assisted translation tools and will also have the skills necessary to supervise freelance translators and bilingual editors and support them in the delivery of high-quality translations.

Position Responsibilities: Manage critical aspects of the translation process for K-12 and higher education print and digital content. Responsibilities include:

  • Resource management (freelance translators and bilingual editors)
  • Product planning, creation of samples, and updating guidelines for freelancers
  • Direct translated content through appropriate review and workflow processes to ensure on-time delivery and quality; perform quality checks in compliance with high company standards
  • Provide timely, consistent, and constructive feedback to freelancers
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams as necessary per project, including Rights and Permissions, Creative Studio, Production, and Digital Solutions
  • Contribute to Requests for Proposals by collaborating with the Director of World Languages and internal cross-functional teams to provide sample work and develop estimates

Required Skills and Qualities:

  • Experience in the use of translation tools (e.g., Trados Studio)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • CEFR level C2+ or ACTFL proficiency rating of Superior in written and spoken Spanish
  • Some experience in content development or translation of educational content development
  • Some experience of transadaptation or localization desired
  • Some knowledge of publishing procedures
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work on multiple deadline-oriented projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Ability to lead, problem-solve, take initiative, and be proactive
  • Attentive to detail, inquisitive, resourceful, and thorough
  • Interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, external resources, and internal project team

Requirements:

Undergraduate Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Spanish language, or related field

At least one year in translation of educational content

Authorization to work in the U.S.
